Korean women’s volleyball wins 2 games in 2nd week of VNL, challenges to rise in world rankings
The Korean women’s volleyball team, freed from the nightmare of 30 consecutive losses in the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) Volleyball Nations League (VNL), gathers its spirit to rise in the world rankings and achieve another victory.
The women’s volleyball team, newly led by Puerto Rican coach Fernando Morales, will play the second week of the 2024 VNL from the 30th to June 3 at the College Park Center in Arlington, Texas.
In the first week of the match held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Korea lost to China, Brazil, and the Dominican Republic in succession, then defeated Thailand with a set score of 3-1, and made its first match in about 3 years and 31 games since the match against Canada on June 15, 2021.
Victory was announced in VNL. 파워볼사이트
Korea, which had not scored any points for the past two years, gained 3 valuable points and ranked 14th among the 16 participating countries.
Below our country are Thailand and Bulgaria.
As coach Morales promised to raise the world rankings in the VNL, Korea rose three places from 40th before the start of the tournament to 37th.
It seems that the more wins and points the better the ranking will go up.
The FIVB world rankings reflect match results in real time.
When a team at the bottom of the rankings defeats a team at the top, it scores a lot of points and its ranking rises relatively significantly.
As a country that has fallen infinitely, the more we catch a top team, the higher we rise.
The women’s volleyball team will face Bulgaria (30th), Poland (31st), Turkye (June 2), and Canada (June 3) in Arlington.
Bulgaria’s world ranking is 21st, which is higher than ours, but their performance has not yet improved to the point where they failed to score a point in the first week and lost 4 times in a row, so they are considered a sacrifice for Korea’s 2 wins.
