Kicking off the season on Thursday with the Korea Express and Heungkuk Life opener
Pepper Savings Bank eyes this season “different team from last season”
The start of the Dodram 2023-2024 V-League Women is just two days away. Seven team managers are set to kick off the six-month campaign.
The media day for the Dodram 2023-2024 V-League Women’s Division was held at Hotel Rivera Cheongdam in Gangnam-
gu, Seoul on December 12. Seven club managers, domestic players, foreign players, and Asian quota players attended the media day.
The season will kick off with the opening game between Korea Expressway Corporation and Heungkuk Saengsim at Gimcheon Indoor Gymnasium at 4 p.m. on April 14.
At the media day, the managers of each club shared their expectations for the season and their favorites to win the title.
Heungkuk Sinsaeng, last season’s runner-up, is the favorite to win the title this season.

The head coach of defending champion Korea Expressway Corporation, said, “We will make a new impression. This year, I
think we need to stop being greedy and prepare slowly. I don’t think our team is weak. We will show fun volleyball,” he
said, expressing his desire to win a second consecutive title.
When asked about his favorite team to win the title, he said, “I don’t want to be wary of any particular team, but I want to be wary of all teams.”
Hyundai E&C head coach Kang Sung-hyung said, “We will challenge for the championship again this year with all our
passion. We have four new players from the previous team, and we will challenge for the title with them,” he said.
He also highlighted the strength of Heungkuk Life and Korea Expressway Corporation. Coach Kang Sung-hyung said,
“Heungkuk Life’s player composition is very good. Korea Expressway Corporation has power leaks, but they are a strong
team with good reinforcements.” “We tried to reinforce our weak areas. We will challenge for the championship with good teamwork this year.”
GS Caltex head coach Cha Sang-hyun said, “There have been changes in the roster and coaching staff. Last season, the
team was eliminated in spring volleyball, so we thought we had to make changes. We will show the change with the idea of taking a leap forward this season.”

Who chose Jung Kwan-jang as the favorite, smiled and said, “I picked her to make coach Ko Hee-jin feel better.”
In response, Go Hee-jin said, “Thank you. I feel good,” and smiled, “I picked Heungkuk Sinsaeng as the favorite because the
composition of the players is so good. Pepper Savings Bank has been reinforced a lot and is definitely a different team from last season.”
Jung Kwan-jang is confident that they will win the title this season. “I want them to have confidence through training. We
have been training hard enough for the players to feel confident,” he said.
“I’m getting older, but I’m still the most passionate on the court,” said Kim Ho-cheol, head coach of IBK. I want my players to be like me and play with passion,” he emphasized.
Choosing Jung Kwan-jang and Heungkuk Sinsung as the favorites, Kim said, “Jung Kwan-jang is a team with a good center.
They are the favorite to win,” he said. “Heungkuk Life is a cohesive team, and with (Kim) Suzy joining them, the puzzle fits together perfectly.”

The key to the season has been the mindset of his players. “I want the players to make intentional moves at crucial
moments. We all need to be on the same page,” he said.
“I think it’s fair to say that we have a good team with good players. We’re looking forward to a good season.”
“The goal is to get better every day,” said Pepper Savings Bank head coach Joe Trinzi. We need to be the most improved
and better team from the first game to the last game,” he said.
Pepperdine has been mentioned as a dark horse this season. Park Jung-ah, who represented Pepper Savings Bank, said,
