Son Heung-min may be going through a difficult time as captain of the South Korean national team, but he smiled for a moment as he met with friends after the match.
The South Korean national soccer team (ranked 28th in FIFA), coached by Klinsmann, drew 0-0 with Wales (ranked 35th in FIFA) in an A-match friendly at 토토 Cardiff City Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, at 3:45 a.m. ET on Aug. 8.
Captain Son Heung-min started alongside Cho Kyu-sung in a 4-4-2 formation. Instead of playing as a traditional two strikers, Son played in a free-role role, moving freely between the center and flanks. Son’s recent performances for Tottenham have been promising, but he struggled to make much of an impact due to the team’s overall poor performance.
The best chance for South Korea in the first half came from Son in the 39th minute. After struggling to receive the ball, Son eventually dropped down to the midfield and began distributing the ball. The further away from the goal he was, the harder it was for him to create anything on his own.
South Korea’s offense improved a bit in the second half, with Son Heung-min attempting a powerful mid-range shot in the 11th minute that went just wide. This would be the last time we would see Son Heung-min threaten in the offense.
The number of matches without a win for the national team has now reached five. Heung-min is the captain of the team, so the longer the winless streak continues, the more pressure he will feel. On the field, Son was not in a good mood.
However, when he saw his friends, his face was bright. After the game, the Welsh national team’s official social media account showed a video of the players meeting with Tottenham. Ben Davies, one of Son’s closest friends, Joe Roden, a former member of the Welsh mafia, and Brennan Jones, a Spurs junior. Heung-min’s face was bright as he stood next to his three friends.
