Tominaga ‘Nihon Curry’ to play for G League…will face former Yokichi team in September

Tominaga Keisei will play an invitational game for the G League.

The G League, the NBA’s lower division, announced on its official social media on the 16th (KST), “Tominaga, the star who represented Japan at the Paris 2024 Olympics, has joined G League United. He will represent the G League in invitational games.”

Tominaga, who played for the University of Nebraska in the NCAA, is a highly anticipated prospect who has been dubbed the “Japanese Curry”. He’s not a big player at 6-foot-5, but he has a precise three-point shot. In 32 NCAA games last season, he averaged 26.1 minutes per game with 15.1 points, 2.4 three-pointers (37.6% shooting), 2.3 rebounds, 토토 and 1.4 assists.

After graduating from college, he entered the 2024 NBA Draft, but was unable to avoid the heartbreak of going undrafted. Nevertheless, he was highly recognized, signing a sponsorship deal with Curry Brand.

Tominaga was named to the Japanese men’s national basketball team and competed in the Paris Olympics. However, he was not given many opportunities. He only played in two qualifying games, averaging 2.6 minutes per game.

G League United, which Tominaga joined as an invited player, is a temporary all-star team made up of international prospects and stars who play in the G League.

Every fall, starting in 2022, G League United brings together G League stars and up-and-comers to form a team and invite various teams to play in an event.

The inaugural game in 2022 pitted the G League Ignite against the French League’s Metropolitan 92, which drew a lot of attention at the time because Metropolitan had a strong No. 1 pick in Victor “Alien” Wembanyama (San Antonio). Wembanyama averaged 36.5 points in the two games.

This year, they will face Mega Basket from the Serbian League. The team is known for having a number of Serbian NBA legends, including Nikola Jokic (Denver), Vasiljevic (Charlotte), and Nikola Jovic (Miami).

The two games will be held on September 4 and 6 at Kaiser Permanente Arena in California, USA.
