Swimmers Hwang Sun-woo and Kim Woo-min begin acclimatization training as they enter the ‘Land of Showdown’

The team arrived in Hangzhou from South Korea on Sept. 21 and headed to the athletes’ village to freshen up.

Now that they’ve caught their breath, they’re ready for the Hangzhou Asian Games. The team will hold their first training

session at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center Aquatic Sports Arena on the 22nd.

Two of Korea’s most prominent swimmers, will rest in the morning and then train with coaches Lee Ho-joon, Yang Jae-

hoon, Lee Yoo-yeon, Kim Gun-woo and Jeon Jeon-hyun at 4 p.m.

After two days of acclimatization training on the 22nd and 23rd, the men’s team will begin their medal hunt. The business

events will begin on the 24th, the day after the opening ceremony, and run through the 29th, with 41 gold medals up for grabs.

South Korean swimming is hoping to surpass its best Asian Games result since Guangzhou 2010, when it won four gold, three silver and six bronze medals.

Hwang’s and Kim Woo-min’s performances will determine how many medals South Korean swimming wins.

In the individual events, Hwang will try to win the 100m and 200m freestyle and Kim Woo-min the 400m, 800m and

1500m freestyle. Hwang and Kim will also compete in the 800-meter freestyle relay with Lee Ho-joon (Daegu City Hall)

and Yang Jae-hoon (Gangwon Provincial Government) to try to win their first ever Asian Games team gold medal.

Hwang Sun-woo and Kim Woo-min will win three and four medals, respectively, if they win all of these events.

Fan Zhanle (CHN), who holds the Asian record in the event (47.22).

If Hwang goes for gold in the 100m freestyle, Korea Swimming’s project of six gold medals will be on track.

On the 25th, he will go for a second gold in the 800-meter freestyle relay, where he is unbeatable in Asia. Having already

proven their international competitiveness at the World Championships, the relay team has a good chance of reaching

the top of the podium if they don’t make any major mistakes.

Hwang Sun-woo and Kim Woo-min will then go for gold in the 1500m freestyle on the 26th, the 200m freestyle on the

27th, the 800m freestyle on the 28th, and the 400m freestyle on the 29th.
