South Korean judo’s top heavyweight Kim Min-jong (22, Yangpyeong-guncheong) has won the gold medal at the 31st Chengdu Summer World University Games (Universiade), defeating Japan’s top hope Yuta Nakamura (21) in one bout.
Kim Min-jong defeated Nakamura in the men’s 100-plus-kilogram final of the judo competition in Chengdu, Sichuan province, China, on Aug. 31 by pinning him in a bout of missed takedowns just two minutes and five seconds into the match.
Nakamura is a Japanese judo star who won gold at the International Judo Federation (IJF) Junior World Championships last year.
Kim Min-jong proved to be more than a match for Nakamura and upheld Korean judo pride.
Kim will look to continue his momentum at the IJF Masters in Hungary next month.
On the same day, Han Joo-yup (Korea Horse Society) in the men’s 90 kg, Lee Yoon-sun (Yongin University) in the women’s 78 kg, 먹튀검증 and Park Saet-byul (Yongin University) in the women’s 78 kg and above all lost in the finals and took home silver medals.
