Doosan Bears Kwak Bin.
The Asian Games hiatus is upon us, and it will be a big factor in the final standings battle in the Korean Baseball Organization.
The Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games team
Led by head coach Ryu Jung-il, will convene on the 23rd to begin preparations for the tournament.
The team will depart for Hangzhou on Oct. 28 to begin their quest for a fourth consecutive title, 스포츠토토 starting on Oct. 1 against Hong Kong.
If the baseball team reaches the final without any major upsets, they will play until October 7 and then return home.
During this time, the professional baseball leagues will be playing uninterrupted, so any players who are sent home will be gone for at least two weeks.
While we’re slowly starting to see the contours of the fall baseball teams, the battle for the top spot is far from over. Each
team has around 20 games left on their schedule, with 10 to 15 of those games to be played while their national team players are away.
LG, NC, Samsung, and KIA
Each have three representatives, Lotte, Hanwha, Kiwoom, KT, and SSG each have two, and Doosan has one.
Of these, Hanwha, Samsung, and Kiwoom have virtually no chance of making the postseason. 토토 They are unlikely to
suffer a major blow from being cut from the national team.
On the other hand, Doosan, SSG, and KIA, ranked fourth through sixth, will be fighting for every game. Not only is “fall
baseball” on the line, but the fourth spot with home field advantage is crucial.
Fourth-place Doosan is in a better position, as they’ve only sent out one pitcher, the fewest of the 10 teams. It’s
unfortunate that one of them is homegrown starter Kwak Bin.
Kwak has been solid this season, going 11-7 with a 2.97 ERA in 22 games. He’s been a big part of the reason Doosan has
been able to hold on to its 4-5 starters, including Choi Won-jun.
Doosan will have to deal with a small number of starting gaps during Kwak’s absence. Doosan will be forced to take
advantage of any games where they have a foreigner starting, such as Raul Alcantara or Brandon Waddell.
SSG Landers Choi Ji-hoon.
The fifth-ranked SSG will be missing two of its “center fielders,” Choi Ji-hoon and Park Sung-hyung, both of whom are
active in the offense, but their absence will be especially felt in the defense.
The middle infield can be filled by foreigners Guillermo Heredia and veteran Kim Kang-min, but the shortstop spot is a big
question mark. Kim Sung-hyun, who plays second base, and Ahn Sang-hyun, a backup infielder, will have to play shortstop.
KIA, which has lost seven straight games, is the most worrisome. With catcher Na Sung-beom and shortstop Park Chan-ho
already out with injuries, the team will be without three more players.
KIA will be without outfielder Choi Won-jun and pitchers Lee Yi-ri and Choi Ji-min. The back-to-back losses will further disrupt the team’s momentum.
Lotte, which is in seventh place and continuing its ‘fall baseball’ hopes, will lose two starters, Park Se-woong and Na Kyun-an, at the same time. With the likes of Han Hyun-hee and Shim Jae-min having to step up, it will be difficult for the team to gain momentum in the standings.
LG, KT, and NC are not out of the race yet either.
LG Twins Go Woo-seok.
For LG, the loss of closer Ko Woo-seok, pitcher Jung Seung-jo, and third baseman Moon Bo-kyung at the same time is a big concern. Left-handed reliever Ham Deok-ju is also injured, which puts a heavy burden on the shoulders of other bullpen pitchers such as Park Myung-geun, Kim Jin-sung, and Yoo Young-chan.
Second-place KT is also missing Park Young-hyun and Kang Baek-ho. Among them, the loss of Park Young-hyun, who leads the league in saves this season, is a big one. They plan to fill the gap with Son Dong-hyun and Kim Young-hyun, but it won’t be easy.
The third-ranked NC will be without shortstop Kim Joo-won, catcher Kim Hyung-joon, and pitcher Pil Seung-jo Young-gyu. It’s still a big hole to fill, but the fact that ace Koo Chang-mo was dropped from the national team at the last minute could be a good thing for NC. For the time being, Koo Chang-mo is expected to help out in the bullpen. 스포츠토토링크
