Im Sung-jae tied for 4th at PGA Tour Scottish Open 3R…4 strokes off lead

South Korea’s Sungjae Lim continued to battle for the top spot in the third round of the PGA Tour’s Genesis Scottish Open ($9 million purse).

The South Korean carded five birdies and two bogeys for a 3-under 67 in the third round of the tournament at the Renaissance Club (Par 70-7,237 yards) in North Berwick, Scotland, on Thursday (Korea time).

Lim, who was tied for third at 10-under after the second round, moved into a tie for fourth with a 13-under 197 total.

Four strokes off the lead with Ludvig Oberg (SWE) at 17-under 193, Lim will be looking for his sixth top-10 finish of the season, as well as an upset victory.

The two-time PGA Tour winner has five top-10s this season, with his best finish being a tie for third at the Travelers Championship last month.

Lim jumped out to an early lead with birdies on Nos. 2 (par-4), 4 (par-4) and 6 (par-3).

He bogeyed the seventh (par-4), but rebounded with a birdie on the eighth (par-4) by hitting his second shot to about 1.5 meters.

He birdied the 14th (par-3) with an accurate 9-iron tee shot that nearly made him a hole-in-one, but bogeyed the 16th (par-5) to further reduce his deficit.

“It was difficult to play because it was raining and I had a lot of things to think about in the middle of the round, but I hit good shots and played well,” said Lim.

He added: “Scotland is always rainy and windy, so there are always variables. I don’t know what will happen tomorrow, but I will do my best like I did the last three days,” he said, adding, “Being greedy doesn’t always work out, so I will take it one hole at a time and finish well.”

Kim Joo-hyung and Korea Professional Golf (KPGA) Tour’s Lee Jung-hwan were one shot off the pace in the third round to tie for 43rd place at 6-under par 204, while Kim Siwoo finished the third round in a tie for 67th place at 2-under par 208.

Aubrey, who shot 6-under-par in the second round to take the lead, dropped five more strokes on the day to remain atop the leaderboard and move closer to his first win on the PGA Tour in eight months, after recording his first victory at the RSM Classic last November.

Robert McIlroy (Scotland) is two strokes back in second place at 15-under 195, followed by Adam Scott (Australia) in third at 14-under 196.

Colin Morikawa (USA) is tied for fourth (13-under 197) with Sung Jae Lim.

Defending champion Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland) is tied for eighth (12-under 198), Tommy Fleetwood (England) and Cam Davies (Australia) are tied for 11th (10-under 200) and Zander Schauffele (USA) is tied for 19th (9-under 201). 파워볼사이트
