Japan defeated Myanmar 5-0 in the fifth match of Group B of the FIFA Confederations Cup North America 2026 Second Qualifying Round at Thuunna Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar on Saturday at 9 p.m. ET. With the win, Japan clinched first place in the group with a perfect 5-0 record.

Japan added a third goal midway through the second half. In the 30th minute of the second half, Ogawa finished a cross from the right side by Soma with a header. A second goal followed shortly after. In the 38th minute of the second half, Ogawa took advantage of a mistake by the Myanmar defense and split the goal with a turning shot.
Japan drove a wedge. In the third minute of second-half stoppage time, Nakamura scored with a fantastic mid-range shot from the front of the penalty box. The game ended with a 5-0 victory for Japan.
