Samsung head coach Park Jin-man shares his thoughts on the team’s big win over LG in the final game of the season.
Samsung won 11-1 against LG in Jamsil on April 28. After scoring two runs in the first inning, Samsung got hits from every batter in the starting lineup. In total, they had 15 hits. Starting pitcher Choi Chae-heung earned his first victory since leaving the military. It was his first start in 737 days since September 21, 2021, against Sajik Lotte.
At the center of the batting explosion was leadoff man Ryu Ji-hyuk, along with Koo Ja-uk, Pirela, and Lee Sung-kyu. Ryu went 5-for-5 with a home run and an RBI, Koo went 3-for-2 with a home run and two RBI, Pirela went 5-for-3 with a home run and an RBI, and Lee Sung-gyu went 5-for-5 with a home run and two RBI.
Choi threw 94 pitches, allowing one run on six hits and one walk with four strikeouts in six innings. It was the first win for the right-hander after seven losses without a win this season. Choi was followed by Choi Ji-gang, Noh Gun-woo, and Kim Seo-joon.
With the win, Samsung improved its season record to 55 wins, 75 losses, and one tie. They finished the season with a 6-10 record against LG.
