Damar Hamlin, a Buffalo Bills defender, began a multi-city tour on Saturday at his home stadium to disperse medical supplies and advertise methods that helped save his life in January.
At the occasion kicking off his Chasing M’s Foundation CPR Tour, Hamlin distributed automated external defibrillators to close to 50 youth sports and community organizations on the Bills’ field at Highmark Stadium.
“Growing up playing sports, I never really remember ever thinking about where an AED was, or ever thinking about CPR training,” Hamlin said during a brief speech. “I don’t ever remember a coach or a parent ever knowing where an AED was in a gym or stadium, or anywhere, for that matter.
For child sports teams and neighborhood organizations, the multi-city trip will offer CPR instruction and AED distribution. We are informed that the tour starts in Buffalo and goes via Pittsburgh.
“My charity is a blessing and an unexpected life mission,” Hamlin wrote 토토 on the Chasing M’s Foundation’s GoFundMe page. “We’re humbled and proud to have the chance to use these funds to give back – and lift up others.”
“Beyond my focus on returning to the football field, I’m honored to lead Chasing M’s Foundation, which is dedicated to the development, health & safety of youth through sports, engagement activities, training, and programming,” Hamlin wrote in a statement. “Because of what I experienced, I’m working to make sure that kids across the country have the same access to life-saving care that I did – if they need it.”
For more than an hour, Hamlin welcomed young football players and their coaches, signing autographs, posing for pictures, tossing toy footballs, and playing mini-golf with the crowd. Along with his parents Mario and Nina, younger brother Damir, agents, and marketers, Hamlin was in attendance.
Hamlin, 25, has made it obvious that he intends to return to the field after being given the all-clear by the Bills and numerous outside doctors. During the Bills’ voluntary spring minicamps, he has gradually resumed football activity by participating in individual drills without a helmet.
Following Hamlin’s cardiac arrest on the field during a January 2 Bills game against the Cincinnati Bengals, his foundation—originally started to aid a neighborhood toy drive—went global. More than $9 million in donations came in over the course of the following month as Hamlin spent several days in the hospital in severe condition.
Throughout his recuperation, Hamlin, who is attempting to get back into the NFL, has been a vocal supporter of CPR instruction and easy access to AEDs. Along with the CPR Tour, he has 토토사이트 worked with the American Heart Association and traveled to Congress to request passage of legislation expanding the amount of AEDs that are available on school campuses.
The Bills and the American Heart Association have teamed up to offer hands-only CPR training events throughout western New York alongside the Chasing M’s Foundation CPR Tour.
The AHA states that prompt CPR can increase a cardiac arrest victim’s likelihood of survival by a factor of two to three.
