Joins Kagoshima Camp for 3 days
SSG Landers, a professional baseball team, officially announced today the appointment of former NC Dinos coach
Son Si-heon as the head coach of the Futures (2nd team).
Son, who started his professional career as a rookie with the Doosan Bears, played for Doosan (2003-2013) and NC (2014-2019).
During his playing career, he was known for his steady defense and excellent operational skills, and was recognized
for his leadership as captain of both Doosan and NC.
After his retirement, he worked as the NC second team defense coach in 2020-2021, and in December 2021, he
received coaching training in the minor leagues under the Philadelphia Phillies of Major League Baseball.
“We believe that Coach Son is the right person to lead the transformation and growth of the Futures prospects by
understanding and utilizing the club’s sports science-based development direction,” SSG said in explaining the appointment.
“I feel a great sense of responsibility. Based on my experience, I will do my best to communicate and collaborate
with the coaching staff and front office to develop good players,” he said, adding, “I will strive to create an
atmosphere where everyone can receive opportunities and succeed.”
Son will visit SSG Futures Field in Ganghwa Island on Feb. 2 to meet and greet the Futures players before joining
them for the final camp in Kagoshima, Japan, on Feb. 3.
Lee Dae-soo, the former head coach of the Futures, will be in charge of the defense at the Kagoshima camp before
assuming his new role for the 2024 season. 스포츠토토맨
