South Korea loses 8-9 to Hong Kong second game against USA on Tuesday
South Korea’s women’s baseball team got off to a disappointing start.
South Korea, ranked 10th in the world, dropped an 8-9 heartbreaker to Hong Kong, ranked 11th, in the first game of Group A at the WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup 2024 in Thunder Bay, Canada.
South Korea scored a run in each of the first four innings, 섯다 including Park So-yeon’s RBI single in the bottom of the first and Shin Noo-ri’s three-run triple with two outs in the second.
However, with a 7-5 lead going into the sixth inning, Korea surrendered four runs in the top of the seventh. After walking the leadoff hitter on a hit-and-run pitch, they were unable to avoid a big inning due to a hit-by-pitch and a wild pitch.
In addition to South Korea and Hong Kong, 온라인섯다 six other countries competed in Group A: Canada (3rd), Australia (8th), the United States (4th), and Mexico (12th).
The first and second place finishers in Group A will advance to the World Cup Final Round in Thunder Bay next year. If host Canada finishes in the top two, the third-place finisher will earn a ticket to the final round.
After dropping their first game, 고스톱 South Korea will play their second game against the United States on Tuesday. The Americans defeated Australia 3-2 earlier in the day.
